Children Present The Newborn King

Meridian, Miss. Children at Central United Methodist Church's daycare performed in its annual Christmas program Wednesday.

The one- and two-year-olds were dressed up as little snowmen at the beginning of the program. The three- and four-year-olds participated in a play titled The Newborn King.

Daycare center director, Glenda Thomas, says this play is a way to teach children the real reason for Christmas.

"What the meaning of Christmas is all about, the real meaning is Jesus. He is the reason for the season," said Thomas. "Without Christ, there would not be this holy day."

Thomas says one of the best ways for the children to learn about Christmas is by getting to act out the roles of the Nativity.
