The city of Meridian is considering adding a second walking track at Bonita Lakes Park, this one at the upper lake.
Former mayor, Jimmy Kemp, who runs an engineering consulting firm, presented a proposal to the city council to apply for a grant for the project. It would add a handicapped-accessible track to go along with the existing walking trails at the upper lake.
Kemp calls the project "A Path for All", which would also include some changes to the track at the lower lake.
"We will do little bit of work it takes to do that and then put a track all all the way around, or a path all the way around, the upper lake so that it will become ADA compliant as well," said Kemp.
At this time, the project is still in the planning stages and there has been no time line given for when work might begin.
