U.S. Senator Thad Cochran is on the road campaigning and making more public appearances than were evident prior to the June 3 Republican Primary. He will meet state Sen. Chris McDaniel in a June 24 runoff.
"You've got only three weeks left in the campaign, in the runoff," said Quinton Dickerson, a consultant for the Cochran campaign. "And so there's extreme urgency to not only get the message out but to organize in all the counties where we need to turn our vote back out and add to that vote."
McDaniel led the voting in a 3-way race June 3.
The latest poll of the runoff race between Cochran and McDaniel released Saturday by Chism Strategies shows McDaniel with a 3 percent lead over Cochran. Only voters who participated in the June 3 primary were surveyed.
The winner of the Republican Primary faces Democrat nominee Travis Childers in November.
