The Mississippi Ethics Commission has agreed to reconsider an unfavorable opinion on whether state College Board member Dr. Doug Rouse is violating ethics laws.
The Hattiesburg American reports that the issue is whether it's a violation for Rouse to serve on the board while his business provides medical services to the University of Southern Mississippi.
The Ethics Commission warned Rouse in July of possible ethics law violations after issuing an opinion at his request.
The Ethics Commission agreed Friday to reconsider the unfavorable opinion.
Unless the Ethics Commission reverses that opinion, Rouse said he will resign his position on the College Board.
The business, Southern Bone and Joint Specialists, has provided medical treatment to Southern Miss athletes, during Rouse's entire tenure on the College Board.
