Stonewall, Miss Arts and crafts, live music, good food, lots of fun, and all for a good cause.
Christy's annual arts and crafts festival in Stonewall teamed up this year to help out a local family whose son was diagnosed with a brain cancer this past July. Organizers had several fundraisers there, including an auction to help raise money for the family.
Brandon Sistrunk is just 15 years old and has already been through so much. He is currently undergoing treatment in Jackson, where he has about 6 more weeks of radiation treatment. Sistrunk's mother is overwhelmed by the outpouring of support.
"It's been amazing, overwhelming," Linda Sistrunk says. "We're very gracious for everyone, we're thanking everyone. It's been more than we could ever dream of. I want to thank everybody, thank Christy and Carol Williams, everybody that has donated to this benefit. All the donations for the auction, all the jumpy toys, everything. Everything that's been given to us we appreciate it."
Carol Williams says that things like this event are what make the world go round. The kindness and community of others, coming together in a family's time of need is truly special. She says this event was a true success.
"This has been an extreme success," Williams says. "This is the way you spell success. You get the community together, everybody coming together as one community rather than individual entities."
