Convocation Focuses on 'Excellence'

Lauderdale County Schools' teachers and administrators attended the annual Back-to-School Convocation Thursday in preparation for the return of students in just a few days.

The convocation is a time for the district to discuss updated policies and goals, but also to motivate and inspire teachers for the coming school year.

The theme for the get-together was "Celebrating Excellence".

"And we've had a lot of successes this past year," said Jan Smith, assistant principal at Southeast High School. "We're looking forward to some great successes in the coming year. So today is a day of celebrating our achievements and looking forward to more achievements in the coming year."

Graduates of each county school were special guests:
Bonnie Blue Dulaney - West Lauderdale High
Tina McCoy - Clarkdale High
Courtney McDonald - Southeast High
Hunter Braddock - Northeast High
