Cook Running for District 5 Supervisor

Meridian Community College student, Daniel Cook, 22, qualified Friday to run for District 5 supervisor. He is a Democrat.

"I believe the people of Lauderdale County deserve a little diversity, and good competition in an election is a good thing," said Cook. "It keeps everybody on their toes."

Cook said he plans to major in English at the University of Alabama, and is considering law school in the future.

Cook is the first Democrat in the race. Two Republicans have already made their intentions known, Kyle Rutledge and Peter A. Russell.

Current District 5 county supervisor, Ray Boswell, has qualified as of Feb. 18, but he has indicated that he plans to do so.
