A local couple is celebrating five decades of wedded bliss. They recently got the recognition of the city of meridian.
Louise and Willie Williams recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
They had a big celebration in their honor, which included a proclamation issued by Mayor Cheri Barry recognizing the achievement.
The couple says it was quite an honor.
"We don't have words to say how much we appreciate her, and how she honored us, and what she did for us," said the Williams. "We just thank her very, very much."
In addition to the proclamation, the mayor gave the Williams cards, balloons, and a framed copy of their marriage license.
