Distinguished Young Women Serve Lunch

The Distinguished Young Women were out getting involved in the community Tuesday. They served pizza, sandwiches, drinks, and ice cream to those in need at Love's Kitchen in Meridian. They believe that giving back to the community is important.

Natalie Edwards of Pike County explains what they are doing.

"It's a nonprofit mission where we serve lunch to people who may not be able to eat lunch today and we also painted some uplifting pictures around the room, so I'm very excited," said Edwards.

Jessica Brewer of Simpson County said she believes that community service helps build character.

"I think it's very important to be involved because part of the Distinguished Young Woman Program is be your best self," Brewer said. "And it says to be involved and I think it's very important to be involved and it shows your true character."

The Distinguished Young Women will be involved in the community for the rest of the week.
