The city of Meridian and Meridian Main Street have a new beautification project underway for the downtown area.
The Main Street Design Committee Thursday placed plant-filled urns at Dumont Plaza, city hall and the Main Street office.
Committee member, Peachie Saxon, says the idea is to make downtown more attractive for residents and visitors.
Businesses may purchase an urn for their own property through main street.
"And we'll come and plant them for you,' said Saxon. "You can plant things in them yourselves but we want a little bit of a continuity downtown with the plantings. And we will come back. We're planting these in, some mixed perennials and annuals. And we'll change it out about twice a year."
For more information on purchasing an urn and having it placed at your business, call Main Street at 601-693-7480.
