Law enforcement from across east Mississippi announced their participation in the annual Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign Thursday.
The concentrated enforcement period starts Friday and continues through New Year's Day.
Officers will doing extra patrols and also conducting road blocks with the main purpose of getting people who have had too much to drink out from behind the wheel.
"Agencies will be coordinating throughout the whole Troop H district, coordinating roadside checks and safety points with agencies from Lauderdale, Newton, Kemper, throughout the entire Troop H district," said Meridian detective, Greg Crain.
Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over is a nationwide campaign that is sponsored by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
