Law enforcement agencies in and around Meridian kicked off a campaign to help stop drunk driving.
The 'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over' campaign will run from Aug. 16 to Sept. 2 and includes the Labor Day holiday.
Law enforcement will have extra patrols conducting roadside safety checkpoints, driver's license checkpoints, and looking for people driving under the influence.
"With the Labor Day weekend coming up, it's a holiday weekend, you are going to have a lot more motorists on the roadway. Law enforcement is going to be out there to protect them," said Greg Crain, District 6 law enforcement liaison.
Officials say they believe an increased law enforcement presence helps deter unsafe behavior and helps to put more watchful eyes on the road.
