ECCC, MUW Enter Agreement for Culinary Arts Program

Decatur, Miss. An agreement between East Central Community College and Mississippi University for Women offers a seamless transition for students seeking a bachelor's degree in culinary arts. The presidents of the two schools met Monday in Decatur to sign the agreement.

Culinary students will now be able to earn a bachelor's degree by transferring to MUW from ECCC.

ECCC president Dr. Billy Stewart says this move is significant in the college's strategic plan:

"Under that commitment we have an action plan that talks about creating coherent educational pathways for our students," said Stewart. "And there is no better example of that than the agreement we signed today which allows our students to seamlessly transfer to MUW to seek additional credentials and additional educational opportunities."

"Our programs include both face to face classes and hybrid classes taught online," said Dr. Jim Borsig, president of MUW. "This helps students who want to get that bachelor's degree that will help advance their career to earn a bachelor's degree and build on the fine education they got here at East Central."

The agreement between the two schools is effective immediately.
