East Central Community College in Decatur announced a five percent increase in tuition, beginning with the 2012 fall semester.
Tuition will be $940 per semester, compared to the current rate of $895 per semester.
Officials say the new rate is expected to generate approximately $200,000 a year.
Retiring president, Dr. Phil A. Sutphin, said the additional revenue is needed due to a decrease in state appropriations the past several years and the increasing costs of operation.
ECCC had a record enrollment of 3,223 students in the fall of 2011.
Other fees will remain the same for the 2012-13 school year.
New and transfer students planning to attend ECCC this fall have four orientation sessions from which to choose: Saturday, June 2; Friday, June 22; Friday, July 13; and Friday, Aug. 3.
Fall classes begin Thursday, Aug. 16.
