EMEPA crews are still working Friday to restore power to thousands of customers in Kemper County.
A tornado tore through the county Thursday, taking the life of at least one man, Carlos Madrigal, 28, of Blue Mountain, and injuring others. It also caused structural damage and cut off power to about 5,100 customers.
As of Friday morning, close to 3,000 customers were still without service.
EMEPA says it completed repairs to its distribution system overnight. The remaining outages are unable to be restored until all damage is repaired to the Tennessee Valley Authority transmission system. The utility estimates restoration by Friday afternoon.
EMEPA says all customers in Clarke County who lost power Thursday have now been restored.
