Enterprise, Miss. An 11-year-old from Enterprise has already distinguished himself on the world stage.
Braden Ivey just returned home after winning the World Karate Confederation's Kata Junior World Championship and Kumite Junior World Championship and a bronze team medal at competition in Australia.
Braden competed against karate students from 20 countries. He says he has been working toward this goal, literally, for half his life.
And it's a family affair as well. Braden's karate instructor is his father.
"Very very proud as a teacher and also you know as a father," said Michael Ivey. "You know really proud of him, to see his hard work pay off for him. We go in two weeks to Cincinnati, Ohio, for the AAU National Championships."
And the fast pace won't stop there. The NKF National Championships await in July.
Braden was treated to a congratulatory party as he arrived home Thursday.
