Local hotels say they have been completely booked the past couple of nights with Isaac evacuees.
Shelly Matthew and Cory Simerl evacuated from Saint Bernard Parish, Louisiana with their three children. They say that while they are worried about losing their house, it wasn't worth staying and risking the safety of their children.
All evacuees here say it is tough to watch the storm coverage on TV and not know what is going on at home.
"We've lost contact with everyone back home," Matthew says. "We can't get a hold of them, I think due to towers. Our landlords and stuff, we haven't been able to get a hold of them at all."
Hotels say they have actually had guests asking to extend their stay in Meridian because of Isaac.
