The FBI believes it has solved a string of at least 20 ATM thefts in seven states with the arrest of two men, one of whom has been indicted for stealing money from an ATM in Idaho and shooting at pursing police officers.

The Idaho Statesman reported agents believe 34-year-old Paul Davenport and 39-year-old Matthew Taber Annable committed the crimes over the past 16 months in Idaho, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Florida, Mississippi and Texas that netted them at least $500,000.

In each case, the robbers cut the bolts of the ATM door, attached a chain to a pickup truck and pulled off the door.

Davenport and Annable were arrested Jan. 12 in Orem, Utah, on suspicion of a Dec. 8 robbery in Douglas, Wyo. Davenport has been indicted for the Jan. 10 robbery and shooting in McCall, Idaho.
