Collinsville, Miss. Families came together to enjoy the beautiful day, bond and kill zombies. Mike Street held his second Zombie Shootout competition at the Battlefield Shooting Range with a very successful turnout.
"They're just enjoying the outdoors. It's a good family day at the range where the whole family gets to enjoy the sport of shooting. There's something here for everyone today," Street said.
Several scenarios were set up for the competition. Participants could take out the targets with a shotgun or get some training in protecting their families from the walking dead.
"You arrive at your home and see that someone's there that's not supposed to be," Street explained. "They have to get out of the car, get up and start moving to the house. Then, they have to clear through their house to make sure their house is safe for their family."
Organizers wanted to be sure and include kids in the fun, which is why they came equipped with plenty of paintball guns so they can shoot a real life zombie.
Jayden Vaughn and the other children set off into the woods waiting on a nearby zombie to wander out, and then they attack.
"I was feeling kind of scared because it's my first time looking at one, and it was pretty scary at first. I just came closer and just started shooting. It feels pretty awesome to kill a zombie my first time," Vaughn said.
You can catch Street's Zombie Shootout Competition again next spring.
