Meridian, MS AT 10:18 PM, a fire was reported just off Highway 39 on 24th street in Meridian. Multiple engines quickly responded to the blaze and proceeded to put the fire out. A local man didn't escape the blaze according to Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler. He says the deceased man was approximately 60 years old and died of smoke inhalation. His body has been sent to Jackson as a precaution, but all indications are that it was an accidental fire. No names have been released yet. No one else was home at the time. The cause of the fire is under further investigation.
