It was a harrowing scene in southeastern Lauderdale County Wednesday evening after a woman barricaded herself inside a residence on Causeyville Road, all the while brandishing a weapon while deputies attempted to get her out of the home.
The incident started around 6:30 p.m. when deputies were alerted to a woman who was apparently having a mental episode and barricaded herself in a truck.
She would eventually move to that Causeyville Road residence and was threatening authorities and herself with a firearm.
The last straw came when a fire started in the home; deputies decided to make their move and managed to get the resident out of the home while fire departments took care of the fire.
Long Creek, Causeyville, Whynot, and Vimville volunteer fire departments responded. There were no injuries and the subject has been taken to a local hospital for evaluation. There are no charges at this time.
