The Jimmie Rodgers Foundation is celebrating the 114th anniversary of the birth of Jimmie Rodgers this week.
The Father of Country Music was born Sept. 8, 1897, in Meridian.
The foundation will mark the day by offering free admission to the Jimmie Rodgers Museum at Highland Park Thursday.
"The Jimmie Rodgers Museum has recently acquired some new memorabilia," said foundation president, Betty Lou Jones. "We have had donations and Jimmie has received awards, so this is the first time they are on display. And we invite you to come and see these new acquisitions for the Jimmie Rodgers Museum."
Jones said the mission of the foundation continues to be perpetuating the memory of Jimmie Rodgers in the development of American music.
The museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
