Meridian, Miss. Former circuit court judge, Lester Williamson, Sr., died Wednesday at his home. He was 90.
Williamson had a long law career. He was a district attorney for the 10th Circuit Court District of Mississippi in the 1950s, and later served as a circuit judge for 20 years, retiring in 19.87. His son and namesake currently serves in that position.
Newscenter 11 had the privilege of interviewing Judge Williamson a few years ago. He was the nephew of Jimmie Rodgers and a founding member of the Jimmie Rodgers Foundation.
Williamson was also a veteran and a member of the M Club at Ole Miss.
The funeral service will be Monday, Aug. 12 at 10:30 a.m.
at Poplar Springs Drive United Methodist Church. Visitation is Sunday at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
