The local Hamasa Shriners hosted a cornerstone laying ceremony at their new building in Marion on Thursday evening.
The shriners moved into their new building in January of last year and they tell us since then, they have hosted a record number of events there. The groups first building was located on 4th Street in Meridian between 22nd and 23rd Avenue before moving to the Hamasa Temple Theater, where they remained until 2010.
"We have been holding our meetings here," Benny Eggler says. "Plus, other folks have been holding their meetings here. We have been renting our building out, as we did when we were in the Temple Theater and it's been a very good past 2011 for us. We had over 81 events in this building in 2011."
The Hamasa Shriners building is located on Highway 45 in Marion, near the Dollar General store.
