Hattiesburg, Miss.

The Mississippi Secretary of State's Office will have observers in all 14 precincts and for the vote count in the Sept. 24 election for mayor of Hattiesburg.

Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny DuPree's 37-vote victory in June over former City Councilman Dave Ware was challenged in court and eventually led to the second election.

The new election was called by Judge William Coleman after a mistrial was declared in the suit brought by Ware, challenging the outcome.

Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann says that voting irregularities observed by his staff will be reported to Attorney General Jim Hood and Forrest County District Attorney Patricia Burchell.

Polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24.
