The city of Meridian's Public Works Department hosts a household hazardous waste day twice a year so residents can dispose of items that should not be placed with their regular weekly garbage.
Odell Hopkins, contract compliance officer, says this is one way to help the residents of Meridian, and keep the city clean.
"We provide the citizens of Meridian a place to bring things that they can't get rid of in the regular garbage, such as motor oil and aerosol cans and different things like that," said Hopkins. "Batteries and anything you can't normally or should not normally put into the landfill."
You may drop off your hazardous waste at the public works office at 311 27th Avenue South, and also on North Hills Street at Family Bowl Lanes. Someone will be on hand to help unload heavy items. The event will last until 2 in the afternoon.
