A big crowd was on hand Thursday night for the start of a new tradition in downtown Meridian.

Meridian Main Street kicked off its Thursday night, fall concert series, Known as "Alive After Five." Organizers say with all of the homegrown music in Meridian, they felt Dumont Plaza would be a good place to showcase all of the talent in the Queen City.

"Alive After Five" will continue for the next four Thursday's in Dumont Plaza. Based on the success of the first gathering, organizers say a similar event will be organized for the spring.
