Items Stolen from Volunteer Fire Department

Updated: Tue 12:03 AM, Dec 18, 2012

A local volunteer fire department is reeling after someone stole thousands of dollars worth of equipment over the weekend.

When firefighters arrived at the Toomsuba- Alamucha Fire Department Saturday, they found that someone had stolen all of their equipment, except for the trucks themselves.

Fire department officials say the thieves broke in from the back side of the building and took about $25,000 worth of equipment, from chainsaws to generators to air packs to batteries.

"It's pretty sorry that somebody would do something like that to a volunteer fire department, because that's here to protect the people and the property of this district," said Chief Billy Stuckey of the Toomsuba-Alamucha VFD.

If you have any information about the burglary of the fire department, please call Crimestoppers at 601-485-1860.
