Jimmie's Jam is Saturday, starting at 5 p.m., at Singing Brakeman Park on Front Street in downtown Meridian.

It's a free event that organizers hope will be fun for the whole family and resemble Jimmie Rodgers events from the past.

"That's what we've heard from a lot of people through the last couple of years, that they liked it the way it used to be, with the compressed week or two week event," said Josh Taylor, organizer of Jimmie's Jam. "So we want to really get back to that something for everybody to come out and enjoy. The street dance in particular is something everyone used to really enjoy. "

While the event is free, organizers hope you will wait and get your food and drinks at Jimmie's Jam, as all the proceeds will help fund future events.

Another Jimmie Rodgers event comes next week, May 25 at 6:30 p.m., when Christian duo, Shane & Shane, perform at Singing Brakeman Park.

Tickets are $10 and $15. Buy tickets online at itickets or at the Jimmie Rodgers Museum, the Bible Book Store in Meridian, and Northcrest Baptist Church. For more information, call Kenny Walters at 601-433-3191, or e-mail him at kenny@northcrestbaptist.com.
