If you are looking for an extra source of income and want to serve your country, the Air National Guard is looking for people to fill part-time jobs. The Guard trains one weekend a month, two weeks a year, but allows you to keep your current job. Over 40 jobs are available with the 186th Air Refueling Wing here in Meridian, and they are in a variety of fields.
Technical Sgt Andrew Griffon, a recruiter with the 186th, describes the jobs that are available, "Talking aerospace propulsion, which is working on airplane engines, aerospace maintenance, anything from that to financial, administrative type things."
The jobs also come with several benefits. One of those benefits is money for school.
Senior Airman Johnathan Baylous, who is an avionics guidance and control technician with the 186th, says, "I actually joined the Guard for school, so they've been a great help as far as education, I mean, I know no other job that will pay you to go to school, pay you while you're going school, train you, you can go into the outside world and make a lot of money with just a high school degree."
While the Air National Guard offers a variety of great benefits, one of the favorite aspects of Guard life by members in the Air National Guard is the lifestyle itself.
"As far as enjoyment though, honestly, everything out here is great. I mean, great people, great assistance as far as school and stuff," Baylous says. "Definitely join, that's all I have to say. It's the best decision I've made in a long time, and I wouldn't go back. If I had to do it all over again, I would do it sooner."
