People were spread across the lawn at Bonita Lakes for this year's 4th of July festivities. Grills were fired up, tee ball games were going, and there was plenty of fun and laughter. Everybody had a reason for being there.
"I'm here to celebrate the 4th of July," Marianna Bernard said.
"Just going to have a good time with my family, watch some fireworks," Jaley Culpepper said.
"We're just out to have a picnic," Erica Gibbs said. "Watch the fireworks, have some family time."
For many families, it is a tradition to come to Bonita Lakes every July 4th to watch the fireworks show. But then there are those who came for the first time this year.
"I'm just trying to see a beautiful show," Willie Wilson said. "I heard about it and brought my kids out. Don't know what to expect, but I heard it's going to be a good time."
For the kids, there was just as much fun to be had before the fireworks as during the show.
"Running around and playing," Bernard said.
Everyone we spoke to though said it was a happy 4th of July for them.
