Lauderdale County supervisors announced Tuesday that its redistricting plan, based on the 2010 Census, has been approved by the Justice Department.
State and local elections in Lauderdale County will proceed under the newly-drawn lines.
"That plan consists of some minor changes with the board of supervisors districts, as well as justice court judges and constable districts," Hitt said. "There is some additional information that we will be looking at with school districts, but that has not been addressed and is not an issue for this year."
Hitt said there will be no need for additional precincts. He added the minor changes include District 3 giving up some territory to District 4, and Districts 1 and 5 giving up territory to District 2.
