A show performed by Meridian's own Maryann Kyle to rave reviews in New York City is coming to the Temple Theatre.
Kyle, an associate professor of voice at the University of Southern Mississippi, will perform the cabaret-style show she created, "Sondheim in the City", Mar. 3.
Stephen Sondheim's music, like "Send in the Clowns", will be familiar to theatre goers.
The production debuted at USM late last year, where it originated as a creative project for the faculty.
"And it's sort of my life in reverse. I'm an aging actress who is coming from her last audition as a musical theatre ingenue," said Kyle of the story line. "I've just been told I'm too old to audition for the ingenue part. And I go back and sort of relive my life and the loves that I've given up and the things that I've sacrificed for my career."
There are limited tickets available for the Mar. 3 performance, starting at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $25 each, with the University of Southern Mississippi sponsoring a reception prior to the show.
For tickets, go by the Temple Theatre, or call 601-693-5353.
