LEMA Director Retires

Lauderdale County, Miss.

Lauderdale Emergency Management Agency director David Sharp worked his last day for the county Friday.

A retirement reception was held at Evangel Temple to mark the event. Sharp's friends, family, and co-workers joined together in celebrating his eight years as LEMA director.

Sharp got emotional as he talked about how much he'll miss job, but he says he is ready for retirement even though everyone will miss him working for the Lauderdale County.

"Most of them are not really happy about it, but they are happy for me," said Sharp. "Like I said, I've worked, you know, since I was about 12 years old. That's all I've ever known, and I'm hitting a real slow pace for a little bit."

Sharp and his wife plan on taking a vacation to celebrate his retirement.
