Last year alone nearly $300,000 were raised at Lauderdale County Relay for Life.
This year, the event is moving back to it's original home, Ray Stadium on the campus of Meridian High School. American Cancer Society officials say they simply could not accomplish their mission without Relay.
"Relay is our bread and butter," says local ACS representative Jenn McDonnell, "ACS is big on saving lives, and that's every life, it's not just out to find a cure, but taking care of cancer patients right now."
Everyone is coming together to make sure that Ray Stadium is ready to host the event Friday night, including staff from Lauderdale County Emergency Management, plus other officials and plenty of volunteers.
"Campsites are coming together," says Lauderdale County co-chair Tripp Ward, "the stage is in place, and things are shaping up for a great relay."
Relay for Life will being at 6 PM Friday at Ray Stadium. Opening ceremonies start at 7 PM, and it will continue through 7 AM Saturday morning.
