Law Enforcement Supports Special Olympics

Lauderdale County, Miss. Local law enforcement participated in the Special Olympics Torch Run Tuesday in Meridian.

The event kicks off Special Olympics events throughout the state of Mississippi.

Members of law enforcement ran with the torch two miles through the city in support of all of the athletes who participate in the Special Olympics.

"It is really important to just support all of our athletes and tell them that, hey, we are out here and we support you," said Lauderdale County Deputy Marissa Combs.

The Mississippi Summer Games will take place at Keesler Air Force Base and in Biloxi and Ocean Springs from May 11th through May 13th.
