Meridian, Miss. Mississippi Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves spoke to the Meridian Rotary Club Wednesday about what he believes are some of the recent successes of the Mississippi Legislature.
Reeves talked about how the state is currently experiencing slow economic growth. He says job creation and economic development come with a fiscally responsible budget.
"We've been able to focus on what our priorities are, which is bringing better and higher paying jobs to Mississippi, but also understanding that for us to create that environment that encourages the private sector to invest capital," said Reeves.
Reeves says Mississippi is getting out of the habit of using one-time money for recurring expenses and that is helping the state to grow economically.
