There's more to Larry Gibson then you may think. When you meet the humble East Mississippi Community College math and science teacher, you may think he's been a life long educator, but there's something else you should know.
"I spent two years in Vietnam in the mid 1960's. I was flying the A-4 Skyhawk. I was privileged to get to fly 250 combat missions there in Vietnam."
The attack pilot and teacher has added yet another title to his impressive resume: author. Gibson chose 50 short stories to include in his recently published book "Recollections of a Marine Attack Pilot.," and each one brings out a different emotion.
"To write a story as I call it, it has to be something significant. There has to be something that makes it stand out. You can't just say I got up today and did this and that."
Even though this 200 page book is full of stories from 30 to 40 years ago, Gibson says it was easy to write.
"I wrote them, but I didn't reference or read any notes. There were no diaries or anything, you just wrote it out of your head, and on some days I'd write two or three stories a day."
The book is available in hardback and paperback, as well as online at Amazon.com and as a Kindle download.
