The victims of the 2003 Lockheed Martin Plant shooting were remembered Saturday during a special picnic held at Meridian's Highland Park.
Hundreds were on hand for the picnic hosted by the East Mississippi Baptist State Convention. Officials say special recognition was given to the victims who were part of the Laymen Movement during their lives. Family members of the victims were on hand for a special memorial.
"The most important thing now is for family structure," Pastor A.D. Lewis says. "Family structure will help us in our communities, in our country, whatever. We need to encourage family gathering, family unity."
7 people were killed as a result of the shootings on July 8, 2003.
