MHA Revitalization Efforts Ongoing

Meridian, Mississippi The director of the Meridian Housing authority says the agency is still looking at ways to revitalize its properties.

Director Ron Turner tells Newscenter 11 that even with the Choice Neighborhood grant the housing authority has already received to build housing, MHA is still in limbo when it comes to whether the $30 million implementation grant will be available. Turner says it's a wait and see situation.

"Well, actually, we're in contact with HUD once a week," he points out. "We ask them the very same question and they can't tell us anything, at this point, because they are definitely uncertain at this point."

Despite the uncertainty about the federal grant, Turner says MHA is optimistic about keeping its progress going.
