Students performed the play "Not Blind" for their fellow students Monday.
The subject matter is domestic violence and suicide awareness. The story centers on a married couple who has dangerous secrets.
"As a husband, I start off making everyone believe I'm the ideal husband. I'm perfect. I treat her right. I love her. I tell her how beautiful she is," said male lead, Reginald Cole. "And by the middle you realize that all of that is just a cover. I have an alcohol problem and a drug problem, and I eventually beat her."
"We've learned that you can't always judge a book by its cover," said female lead, Parris Boles. "A lot of people are going through a lot of pain and a lot of angst, and they hide it."
Performances continue through Thursday, starting at 11:50 a.m, at the high school auditorium.
Students will also perform at the Angels Theatre, behind St. Paul Episcopal Church, Nov. 5-6 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and benefit The Emily Fund.
