Meridian police have released the name of the victim of a deadly shooting Monday on 25th Avenue.
Randarius Smith was gunned down just before 6 p.m. in the 1800 block of 25th Avenue. The 21-year-old was found lying along the roadway.
Investigators say he had been shot twice, one of those shots to the chest. Smith later died at a local hospital.
Although there is a possible suspect in the case, Police Chief James Reed says an arrest has not yet been made.
"We've received information regarding a possible suspect," said Reed. "We searched for that individual last night, however, we have not been able to locate him. We are continuing to conduct additional interviews and if and when a suspect is identified, certainly we will arrest that person and you all will be notified."
At this time Reed says an investigation continues into the motive. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at 601-485-1860.
