Meridian Police Chief James Reed says his officers are taking the recent theft of batteries seriously.
One Meridian business owner has reported at least
35 lawnmower batteries stolen from his shop in the last month.
Over the past year, Reed says there have been 17 cases of lawnmower or car batteries stolen.
So far two misdemeanor warrants have been issued for suspects, but no arrests have been made.
