MSU Meridian Preps for Fall Semester

MSU Meridian hosted orientation sessions for students Tuesday, in preparation for classes starting Aug. 20.

Orientation makes sure students are familiar with the campus and ready from day one.

Separate meetings are held for new students enrolled in the social work program. It's treated separately because the thirty new students enrolled will go through the program and graduate together.

"A lot of people think that social work is taking children out of homes and putting older people in nursing homes and there are so many other facets of our profession," said Dr. Marian Swindell, associate professor of social work. "We work in hospitals. We work in prisons. We work in foster care. We help with adoption. We work in the schools. We are basically everywhere. We're in the military. So there are great jobs out there for social workers."

Fall classes start Monday, Aug. 20, but registration for classes will still be held all next week.
