Just when it seemed like the relief at the pump was here to stay, prices have now skyrocketed.
Newscenter 11 visited the Cefco station on 14th Street in Meridian on Tuesday afternoon where the price for a gallon of regular has jumped from $2.98 to $3.29 in the past week, according to workers there. Drivers we talked to there say they are already missing the $2.98 price at the pump.
"It was awesome," Teisha Johnson says. "I could fill my car up for like $40. That was awesome. And now? Yeah, it's more than $40."
"I think they were teasing us," Azonda Andrews says. "They were really, really teasing us with the gas prices. Because they gave it an opportunity to save money for the Fourth of July. But after that, it just skyrocketed for us."
The average price for gas nationwide is $3.41.
