A Jackson man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison on charges related to an attempted kidnapping at the Wal-Mart in Philadelphia in 2010.
Donte Joseph Evans pleaded guilty this month to armed robbery, fleeing from law enforcement and attempted kidnapping related to the incident.
Prosecutors say a Wal-Mart employee alleged Evans and another man tried to force her at gunpoint into the trunk of her car while in the parking lot. Prosecutors say the men stole the woman's car.
Circuit Judge Marcus Gordon sentenced Evans to 30 years on the armed robbery charge and five years each for kidnapping and fleeing. Gordon said the sentences would run concurrent with a life sentence without parole Evans is presently serving.
