Hinds County Circuit Judge Swan Yerger sentenced 49-year-old David Anthony Jackson Thursday as an habitual offender. The Clarion-Ledger said it took the jury less than two hours to return a verdict in the case.

District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith said Jackson has "eight previous convictions, including six for house burglaries."

There were no witnesses to the April 27, 2009, break-in at Lott's home in northern Hinds County, but prosecutors say shoe prints on a door and in a guest house matched Jackson's.

Jackson was captured in the area near Lott's home after the house's alarm sounded and deputies arrived.
