Jones County, Miss. State Sen. Chris McDaniel has filed a petition in Jones County Circuit Court, seeking a review of the June 24 GOP runoff with U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran.
Cochran defeated McDaniel by roughly 7600 votes.
McDaniel seeks an immediate hearing and asks the court to withhold Cochran's name from the November ballot as the Republican nominee until his case is heard.
Among McDaniel's requests is that an injunction be immediately entered directing circuit clerks to preserve and secure all original documents relating to the June 3 and June 24 primaries.
The petition asks that Hinds County's June 24 results be invalidated "because of the extensive vote fraud and election law violations permitted by the Hinds County Republican executive committee" and that "other counties proved to have permitted widespread vote fraud and violations of Mississippi election law" also have their June 24 results invalidated.
A copy of the complaint is attached.
