Monday a Meridian cemetery hosted a Memorial Day program complete with a roll call of fallen veterans.
The annual event at Magnolia Cemetery on 23rd Avenue also included a memorial for Richard Howarth, a former fighter pilot who died this year in a twin engine plane crash in Philadelphia.
Cemetery officials say this ceremony is meant to capture the meaning of Memorial Day.
"We need to take a little bit of time every Memorial Day to spend time in a cemetery," says Magnolia President William Arlinghaus, "we have to spend time to honor those that went before us, and made our way of life possible."
