The halls of Meridian High School were packed this afternoon as parents and students came for the first ever before school open house. Principal Victor Hubbard decided an open house would be a great way for everyone to learn about the changes to the daily schedule.
"The biggest thing is of course the four by four block schedule. Parents have many questions in regards to that."
Thanks to this open house, the students will have everything they need and know where to go when they walk through these doors tomorrow.
"We are here today at open house to pass out schedules so the students will be able to know exactly what their schedule looks like and what it entails."
The new athletic facility should be finished by the end of August, and football kicker Kyle Boykin says he's ready to get started.
"I think the athletic facility is great and I'm so excited to be able to be in it pretty soon."
Not all eyes are just sports though, AP History Teacher, Ed Abdella has seen an increase in the number of students taking his classes for college credit, and they're doing quite well.
"We had a really good year in AP US History. The scores in AP were really good, so I'm excited to meet the bunch of 10th graders that will be 11th graders this year."
Between academics, athletics, and campus renovations, everyone seems really excited about what the new school year holds.
"Just looking forward to starting school as always, this is the best part of the year."
